Chara Graham, affectionately known as LaToy, was born January 22, 1978 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Thomas Cooper and the late Aretta Graham Kinder. Chara's sister, Nakaska Graham-Jones, grandparents, Roy and Earline Jones Graham, Mae Francis and Billy Williams, her great-grandparents, Ollie and Georgia Jones, and uncles, Roy Graham, Clifford Graham, and Phillip Porter have preceded her death.
Chara confessed her hope and faith in Jesus Christ and became a faithful member at St. John Praise and Worship Center in Pulaski, Illinois under the leadership of Pastor Larry T. Barnett, Sr. until her health began to fail.
Chara received her education in the Cape Girardeau Missouri school district. After graduating, she furthered her education at the United Education Institute in Morrow, Georgia. Upon completion of her studies, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant and Medical Technician. Chara then followed her heart and dreams and gained employment at Southland Health and Rehabilitation and later Christian City Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Union City, Georgia.
Chara's favorite hobbies were preparing home cooked meals for her family and friends, listening to music and singing, watching her favorite movie, "Goonies", her love of "Betty Boop', and traveling to new and exciting places. Although those were a few of her hobbies; her favorite hobby and passion was her love of fashion! She had a unique and creative style of putting together clothes, shoes, purses to make a statement. Chara also had a love of make-up to finalize the “Total and Complete” fashion look.
Chara's beautiful, loving, and infectious personality will be sorely missed by those who knew her and loved her. She was a dedicated family-oriented person who loved her family dearly and wholeheartedly. As a mother and grandmother, she wanted her children and grandchildren to have the best that life could offer. Chara was a good listener and would also offer her words of advice and encouragement, if and when needed.
On Saturday, January 20, 2024, Chara departed this life at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.
