Chillis Johnson, Jr.

August 13, 1950 — January 25, 2023

Chillis Johnson, Jr. affectionately called CJ, was born August 13,1950 in Portageville, MO to Chillis Johnson Sr. and Bertha Mae Smith. At the age of 72 years and 12 days, Chillis answered the call of the Almighty God and departed this life Wednesday January 25, 2023.

He attended elementary and Junior High School in Howardville, MO and graduated from Lilbourn High School, Lilbourn Missouri in 1971.

Chillis never met a stranger. He was an avid talker and enjoyed joking and  having fun with his loved ones. He was happiest when detailing cars. Chillis had a love for fashion, and was always well dressed for any and all occasions.  He dressed to the” T’ and he enjoyed it.

He spent his leisure time cooking and watching ball games on television. He was a huge basketball fan, especially when it came to Lebron James and the Lakers. C J could also be found at New Madrid County Central gymnasium watching the basketball games and cheering for the home team, The Eagles.

On September 16, 1995, Chillis married his soulmate and best friend, Laveria Misouria. They shared 28 glorious years of happiness and bliss. To this union one son was born, Chillis Johnson III.

Chillis loved the Lord and had his own personal relationship with God. He was a faithful devoted member of Good Hope Church in Marston, MO. He loved the fellowship, worshiping and attending church services.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Mother, Bertha Mae Smith, Father, Chillis Johnson Sr. Two brothers; Felix Williams and Jessie Charles Betts. Three sisters; Berneice Walker, Irish Smith and Renee Smith. Two brothers in law; Earnest White and Michael Wilson. One sister in law, Betty Betts. Father in law, R D Misouria and Mother in law Berthanie Mosby.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Laveria Johnson of the home. Two sons; Chillis Johnson III, Marston, Missouri and Dornay Wilson, Caruthersville, Missouri. One daughter; Taquela Perry, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Three brothers; James Edward (Marsha) Johnson, and Ricky Smith, both of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Jerome (Vivian) Smith, Marston, Missouri. Three sisters, Mary White and Glenda (Anthony) Buchanan, Lilbourn, Missouri, and Carolyn Wilson, New Madrid, Missouri. Four brothers in law; Richard Misouria, Kalvin Misouria, Jeffery Misouria, and Gregory Misouria. One sister in law; Sandra Misouria. One granddaughter; Ariana Grace King and a bonus daughter, Tamya Williams, Sikeston, Missouri.  A complete family of nephews, nieces,  cousins, other relatives, friends, and the Good Hope MB Church family.

Friends may call Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Marston, Missouri with Reverend Earl Grissom officiating and Pastor Allysia Long eulogizing.  Interment will follow in Mason Cemetery in Point Pleasant, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Homes of Howardville in charge of arrangements.
