Clarence James Williams

January 9, 1960 — June 6, 2021

Clarence James Williams, affectionately known as Pumpkin, 61, died Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri. He was born January 9, 1960 in Chaffee, Missouri to the late Wince Lee Williams and Ossie Lee Braxton Williams.

Clarence graduated from Scott County Central High School in 1978.  He enlisted in the United States Army in 1982.  He served his country honorably.

He was a member of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Haywood City, Missouri. He had a personal relationship with God. He stopped drinking and became a better person. Clarence was dedicated to turning his life around.

Clarence was a hard-working man. He spent many years working at the election polls. He was well-known in the community and took pride in giving back to the community in whatever capacity he could.

He would do anything for anybody and was liked by everyone. He loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed giving them candy and making them smile.

When he wasn’t spending time with those he loved, he could be found brewing his coffee at 4 A.M., watching wrestling or his "old time" TV. He enjoyed watching shows like “Gunsmoke”. When talking with him, you could expect to have a nice laugh, and hear some of his smart, sarcastic remarks. Clarence had a very good memory. He would remember phone numbers, birthdays and so much more. He was a family man with a big heart. Clarence will be truly missed.

In addition to his parents, two brothers, Willie Braxton and John Williams, and two sisters, Delores Williams and Mary Williams, have also preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, three brothers, James (Linda) Williams of Haywood City, Missouri,  Robert (Jerlean) Williams and Wince Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
