Cubie L. Townsend, Sr., 87, resident of Charleston, Missouri passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Hunter Acres Nursing Facility in Sikeston, Missouri. He was born January 1, 1937 in Winona, Mississippi to Isom and Mattie Townsend. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six siblings.
Cubie was a member of Church of Christ in Charleston.
On June 24, 1960, he was united in holy matrimony to Cleaster “Red” McCauley. They shared many years of love together until her earthly departure on January 25, 2002.
Cubie worked over 30 years for Bunny Bread (Lewis Brothers Bakery). He retired and began working at Lambert’s, where he retired for a second time.
His loving survivors include seven children, Vicky Ward of Michigan, Steve Townsend, Cubie Townsend, Jr., and Pamela (Richard) Griffin of Charleston, Missouri, Audrey (Joel) Bert of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Christopher (Rebecca) Williamson of Sikeston, Missouri, and Allison Smith of Charlotte, North Carolina, four siblings, Bob (Versa) Townsend of St. Louis, Missouri, Rochester Townsend of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Willie Townsend of Elgin, Illinois, and Yvonne Tucker of New Madrid, Missouri, his grandchildren, Courtney Townsend, Clark Devon Smith, Jasmine Langston, DeParis Townsend, Tobias Townsend, Kazodra Robinson, Daniel Ward III, Daymon Caldwell, Shamika Caldwell, Wanya Henderson, Devonte Ware, Steven Townsend, Kevin McClain, Danielle Willis, Taylor Williamson, Trent Williamson, Jordan Williamson, and Ethan Williamson, and a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at the United Methodist Church in Charleston, Missouri. Interment will immediately follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.
