Dimechi Herring

January 19, 1979 — April 3, 2020

Dimechi Harold Loran Herring, 41, resident of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died April 3, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.  He was born January 19, 1979 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Harold Herring and Lorraine Deal Herring of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Grace Community Church of Smithville, Missouri until he relocated to Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  It was his desire to become a member of a local church, but due to his illness he did not fulfill this desire.  However, his faith in God never wavered and he walked hand and hand with him until the end.  No matter what the circumstances, he knew God was able.

Dimechi was a 1997 graduate of Althoff High School in Belleville, Illinois where he was active in football, basketball, track and choir.  He then attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

He was a quiet, but mischievous young man, who was very intelligent and a hard worker.  He located to Cape Girardeau, Missouri where he attended the Police Academy and became a member of the Cape Girardeau Police Department.  He started there in 2003.  He was a member of the 86 th recruit class of the Missouri Highway Patrol in 2007. Dimechi then went on to attend the Federal Law Enforcement Centers in Glynco, Georgia to become a member of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) in 2008.  He was a Resident Agent in Charge.

He was united in marriage to Dawn Conner on June 20, 2005 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Dimechi was a family oriented man, who loved to relax by spending time with his family.  He also loved electronics and liked to travel.  He will be greatly missed.  If you ask his friends about him, many would answer, “He is one of the most amazing people I know.”   Hard working hands and a very intelligent mind has been put to rest.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn Herring of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, his mother, Lorraine Herring of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, four sons, Dimechi Herring,  Jr., Dru Herring, Dade Herring and Destin Herring of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and one daughter, Daylin Herring of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, three sisters, Dia Herring, DiAndra (Matthew) Horstman and Diona Herring all of St. Louis, Missouri, his father and mother-in-law, Ross and Marlena Conner of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a special uncle, Robert Deal, II of Plainfield, Illinois and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends
