Doris Jean Jackson-Starks

July 5, 1949 — May 19, 2020

Doris Jean Jackson-Starks , 70, transitioned May 19th after a brief battle with an illness in Aurora IL. She was born July 5, 1949 in Sikeston Missouri to the union of the late Harrison Sr. and Mary Jackson.

Doris accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Opportunity Church of God in Christ until her health started failing in 2014. She attended Lincoln High School and graduated in the 1st graduating class of Charleston Senior High in 1967. Following High School, she attended IBM Technology in Detroit, Michigan where she earned a degree in 1969. After pursuing higher education, she made Aurora IL her home for 30 years.

During her life, she was gainfully employed at Agco ten  years, and Missouri Delta as a ward clerk for 14 years until her retirement.  Doris married Harry Starks in 1992. She moved home, to Charleston, Missouri to care for her ailing father in 1999, where she lived until 2017. During her free time, Doris enjoyed road trips, and reading books. Most knew her for her ability to tell you just how she felt.

In addition to her parents, Harrison Sr. and Mary Jackson, she is preceded in death by her son, Michael Anthony Jackson, two brothers, Harrison Jr. and Jimmy Jackson, two brothers in-law, Jimmy Clay and Terry Shaw, a special cousin, Pearlie Kimbrough and her best friend Henrietta Roberson.

She is survived by one grandson raised from birth as her own son, Marquette Jackson, one step daughter Renee (Corbin) Williams, one granddaughter Brittany Delk, five grandsons, Myquese Bryant, Nathan Jackson, Kyle Jackson, Brandon Jackson, and Colin Jackson all of Aurora, IL, ten great grandchildren, two brothers, James Melvin Jackson of Charleston MO, Ray Jackson of Kankakee IL, four sisters, Bettye Shaw of Dekalb IL, Harriett Jackson of Charleston MO, Maryann Clay of Aurora IL, and Joann Moore of Oswego IL, one special cousin, Leora Hamilton of Charleston, MO, special friend, Henry Williams of Charleston, MO and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

A walk through visitation will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 12:00 noon until 1:00pm when a private funeral service will begin at Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston, Missouri with Pastor Steve Betts, officiating.
