Dorothy Mae Jarman, 87, resident of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of Charleston, Missouri died Monday, June 8, 2020 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born September 26, 1932 in Osceola, Arkansas to the late Shelby Hollimon and Annie Bell Clark.
Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and attended a variety of churches including: Church of God of Prophecy in East Prairie, Missouri, Union Baptist in Pinhook, Missouri. She loved teaching Sunday School and working with her church family in outreach ministry. Her favorite saying was, “I never met a stranger.” That still held true until her health began to fail. She faithfully served as Church Mother at Saint Samuel Temple Church of God in Christ in St. Louis, Missouri, and Church Nurse at Opportunity Church of God in Christ, in Charleston, Missouri.
On September 26, 1951 she was united in marriage to Joseph Marshall Jarman. They resided in Kankakee, Illinois until his demise in 1965.
She spent most of her life in Arkansas and Chicago before moving to Southeast Missouri. She spent many years in Missouri working for the Department of Health helping families with gardening. She also worked for Walmart for 11 years where she retired in 1992, but she returned to work and retired as private duty nurse in 2008. Dorothy Jarman had a love of helping others and was a retired private duty nurse.
She is survived by one son, James (Dyann) Brooks of Olivette, Missouri, two daughters, Charlene L. Morgan of St. Louis, Missouri and Anita (Walter) Nance of New York, New York, one brother, Jerome (Chris) Robinson of Charleston, Missouri, eight grandchildren, Tammy (Collins) Robinson of Ballwin, Missouri, James (Carolyn) Brooks of Collinsville, Illinois, Ronald Brooks, Elecia Morgan, Jason Nance, Jessica Nance, and Jeanna Nance of St. Louis, Missouri, and Jamar Nance of San Diego, California, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Public viewing will be held Wednesday, June 17 , 2020 at 12:00 noon with a private viewing at 11:00 A. M .at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, Missouri with interment following in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston, Missouri.
