Edgar Lee Marshall Jr., was born on October 13, 1946 to the union of Edgar Lee, Sr. and Almeter Marshall in Rich, Mississippi. He was the oldest of ten siblings. His parents, one sister, Teresa Hunter, one Grandson and one Great-Grandson preceded him in death.
Edgar Jr. was united in holy matrimony on December 31, 1966 to Pearline (Steward) Marshall. They would spend 56 years together and raise five beloved children.
Edgar Jr. confessed his faith in God in the early 1980’s at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri under the leadership of Pastor Flem E. Bronner, Sr. As a member of St. John M.B. Church he served faithfully as a Deacon, Trustee and Finance Chairperson for well over 20 years. Until his death he was a member of New Covenant Christian Fellowship Ministries of Sikeston under the leadership of Bishop C.E. Bird where he served as Senior Spiritual Advisor to the Bishop.
Edgar Jr. was a diligent worker and was employed by Lewis Bros. Bakeries of Sikeston for 27 years. In 2001 he retired from Lewis Bakeries and spent much of his time attending to home and church.
On December 16, 2023 at the age of 77, Edgar Marshall, Jr. bid this life adieu at his home in Sikeston, MO. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life his wife; Pearline Marshall of the home. Five children; Melvin L. Steward of Sikeston, Maurice L. Steward of Sikeston, Earnest T. (Amiee) Marshall of Dexter, MO., Donna D. Marshall of Sikeston and Kenya L. Marshall, Sr. of Sikeston. One God-Daughter, LaDonna Morgan of Sikeston and one very Special Spritual Daughter, Lynn Evans-Ware of Cape. Eight siblings; Henry Marshall and Matthew (Shirley) Marshall of Sikeston, Richrard (Shirley) Marshall of Kerrville, TX., Leroy (Joyce) Marshall of Altalomo , CA., Monroe (Regina) Marshall of Bellville, IL., Roy (Bernice) Rice of Chicago Heights, IL., Jimmy (Paula) Rice of Hazelcrest, IL, and Lessie (Joe) Barnett of Memphis, TN. Additionally he leaves to cherish his memory his one living Aunt, Jessie Lane of Sikeston, 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, in-laws, spiritual children, friends and colleagues.
A memorial service will be held at Green Memorial C.O.G.I.C in Sikeston, Missouri on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 12:00p.m. with Bishop C. E. Bird Officiating. The Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
