Elvy Willie Moore McGaughy, 46, resident of Homestown, Missouri died, Thursday. October 31, 2019 at the Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born September 13, 1973 in Hayti, Missouri to the late Willie Moore and Geraldine McGaughy Ellis of Homestown, Missouri.
He attended North Pemiscot Public Schools. He loved drawing and designed the school mascot that was painted in the center of the gymnasium floor, on school walls and lockers and seen on many jackets and yearbooks for many years to come. Elvy was Senior Class President and obtained many other accomplishments and awards and graduated with the Class of 1991.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from 1992 -- 2000. Elvy served two Desert Storm Tours and was stationed in Korea. While in the Air Force he obtained two associate degrees, in math and history. He received an honorable discharge.
Elvy was united in marriage to Keisha Winchester. To this union a daughter, Elantra Nneka, was born.
Elvy then turned his mind toward his desire to travel and settled into the life of Professional Over-the-Road Truck Driving. He enjoyed his occupation and was very delighted to see the United States, Canada and Mexico. After twelve years of driving cross country Elvy decided to take a break because of health reasons and became an instructor for The CDL Truck Driving School in Sikeston, Missouri.
He would later meet Monica Waters and they would have a daughter, Elyssa Grace.
Elvy was a hard worker and did not care to lend a helping hand whenever needed. His young spirited heart allowed him to mingle with the young and the old. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his father he is preceded in death by his second father, Dairrel Ellis and uncle, Charles McGaughy.
Survivors include his mother, Geraldine Ellis of Homestown, Missouri , two daughters,, Elantra Nneka McGaughy of Charlotte, North Carolina and Elyssa Grace McGaughy of East Prairie, Missouri, three brothers, Myron Sharp of Columbia, Missouri, Cordell Luster of Springfield, Missouri and Gregory (Eboni) Ellis of Evansville, Indiana, six sisters, Tanya (Lorenzo) Ellis-Harris of Hayti, Missouri, LaTonya Sharp and Sharhonda Allen of Columbia, Missouri, Sherry (Samuel) Holland, Aneicsia Luster and Bernice Luster of Springfield, Missouri, one grandson, Elliot Christopher Anderson of Charlotte, North Carolina, one niece, Heiryn Unique Ellis of Wardell, Missouri two special friends, Korie (Mary) Collins of Steele, Missouri and Ronnie Studie of Wardell, Missouri and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Friday, November 8, 2019 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Faith Temple Complex Church of God in Christ in Hayti Heights, Missouri with Elder Gary McCain, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Homestown Cemetery in Homestown, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Home of Howardville, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
