Ernestine Jones Johnson, 75, of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Pinhook, Missouri, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois. She was born March 11, 1943 in Joiner, Arkansas to the late Jettie and Catherine Jones.
Ernestine was the most amazing hard-working mother and grandmother. She accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized in Missouri.
In 1975 Ernestine moved to Pinhook, Missouri with her children and was employed by the Ralph Edward Company in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She later found gainful employment as a social worker for the local Head Start Program in Pinhook, Missouri.
In 1987, Ernestine moved back to Chicago, Illinois, where she was employed at "Wee Care Daycare Home" as the Assistant Director. During this time she opened her own business called Ernestine's Cakery. Her skill and talent earned her high profile clients such as AT&T, Ford Motor Company, and Grand Prairie Services, as well as family and friends..
In addition to her parents, she also preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Parham.
She is survived by three sons, Clifton (Brenda) Johnson, Calvin (Deanna) Johnson and Juan (Rosario) Johnson, one daughter, Yvette Johnson, two brothers, Freddy Jones and Willie (Veronica) Jones, two sisters, Mary Johnson and Jerildine Voss, ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Woodland Community Church in Homewood, Illinois. Friends may call Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 A. M. at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, Missouri. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston, Missouri.
