Essie Beatrice Steward, 84, resident of Sikeston, Missouri died October 25, 2020 in her home surrounded by family. She was born November 4, 1935 in Malden, Missouri to the late Everie and Georgia Mae Cannon Steward.
Essie had her own personal relationship with God, and she made sure her children had one too. She enjoyed taking them to St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri. Many fond memories were made on Sundays.
She was a hard worker who took pride in providing for her family. She would go over and beyond to make sure all their needs were met.
Essie enjoyed being outside. Most days you could find her walking. She walked everywhere she went. She would even walk to work. When she wasn't working, you could find her in her yard. She loved working in her flower beds and her bushes. Spending time in her yard brought her so much peace.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, LeRoy Steward and Ivan Morris, two brothers, Luther Steward and Joe Louis Steward, and four sisters, Minnie Moore, Loretta Steward, Willie B. Mills, and Earlie Mae Steward.
Essie is survived by one son, Melvin Steward of Sikeston, Missouri, and two daughters, Gracie Morris and Tracy B. Steward of Sikeston, Missouri, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 13, 2020 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, Missouri.
