Florence Lee Brown was born on March 22, 1928 in Wyatt, Missouri to Lucinda Greer Crenshaw and W.T. Crenshaw. She was the third of nine children. Her parents preceded her in death, as well as her children, Jesse Brown, Jr. (Everlean), Ruby Mootry (Wilbur, also known as Sammy), Harold Brown (Jackie), and James E. Brown.
She accepted Christ at an early age and called Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Wyatt, Missouri her church home.
She married Jesse Brown, Sr. on May 30, 1944. To them were born seven children.
Interesting facts about Florence Brown; She shares a birthday with her great granddaughter, Sierra, and her great-great granddaughter, Nadia. She and her husband owned a farm in Mound City, Illinois where one day she was chopping wood and cut off her middle finger and BOY was grandpa mad. (LOL) She loved to pick goodies, also known as pecans, along with quilting, canning preserves, gardening, fishing, and listening to the police scanner.
She passed away on April 13, 2023 in Gilbert, Arizona, under the loving and compassionate care of her daughter, Ella Louise Davis and her gracious husband, John Henry Davis.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her sisters, Reatha Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, and Leatha Hale of Gary, Indiana, her children, Norma Jean Johnson of Lansing, Michigan, Cinda Mathis of Southfield, Michigan, and Ella Louise (John Henry) Davis of Darien, Illinois. She had 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 31 great-great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends from all over that she adored and truly adored her.
Friends may call Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Ollie Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Wyatt, Missouri at 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon. Interment will immediately follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston, Missouri. The Williams Funeral Home in Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
