Florence Jean (Brown) Dixon was born on Tuesday, July 4, 1950, in Charleston, Missouri to Willie Pearl (Crafton) Brown and Willie “Snow” Brown. Florence was one of five children: two boys and three girls. She was the middle child that kept everyone on their toes. She was the true life of the party (of our family), she cherished close relationships with friends and family, and she lived each day to the fullest.
Florence graduated from Charleston High School in Charleston, Missouri. Soon after Florence was joined in holy matrimony to Allen Dixon on September 21, 1971, at her parents’ home. Florence was a homemaker, a devoted housewife, and mother, raising her four children. She enjoyed riding around town, and spending time with friends and family. She especially enjoyed the 4th of July, her birthday; in essence she was the party.
Florence departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at her home in Charleston, Missouri. Preceding her in death are both parents, her baby sister, Mary (Brown) Kimble, her older brother, Bruce Brown, her eldest daughter, Cynthia Lynn Smith, her grandson, Marcus Dixon, Jr., and her beloved husband, Allen Dixon.
Precious, loving memories are shared by all whose lives she touched. Florence leaves to cherish one son: Marcus Dixon of Memphis, Tennessee; two daughters: Tiffany Dixon of Charleston, Missouri, and Valerie (Joseph) Travis of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; twelve grandchildren: Brandon Smith, William Smith, Matisha Dixon, Tyrik Dixon, Keondre Dixon, JerMarcus Dixon, Dream Dixon, Lawrence Townsend, Tramaine Dixon, Shalesia Travis, Joseph Travis Jr., and Shatavia
