Floyd Blanche Edwards

Floyd Blanche Edwards , 92, died on her birthday, Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the New Madrid Living Center in New Madrid, Missouri.  She was born March 20, 1929 in New Madrid to the late Milton "Daddy" White and Blanche Alston-White.

Floyd graduated from O'Bannon High School in New Madrid.  She taught DAEOC Headstart in Howardville, Missouri for 39 years before retiring.  During her tenure, she received some college credits.

While teaching and mothering ten children, Floyd was an active Sunday School Teacher at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in New Madrid, Missouri under the leadership of Reverend C. H. Bell.  She was an Usher for over 50 years and was a member of the Mothers' Board.

In addition to her parents, Milton and Blanche Alston-White, she was preceded in death by four beloved sisters, Ruby White, Frankie White, Gladys McChriston, and Carrie B. Sims, one brother, Carl Hardin, Jr., one daughter, Anna Humphrey, two sons, Delaney Minner and Durrell Minner and five grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish precious memories, one sister,  Judia Redman of New Madrid, Missouri, three daughters, Carol (Melvin) Peppers and Greta (Darryl) Nelson of Decatur, Illinois, and Delores Minner of Caruthersville, Missouri, four sons, Terry Minner of St. Louis, Missouri, Dennis (Tracey) Minner of New Madrid, Missouri, Stephen (Linda) Minner of Sikeston, Missouri and Ray (Evette) Minner of Detroit, Michigan, 25 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in New Madrid, Missouri with  Pastor Robert Anderson officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with the Williams Funeral Home of Howardville in charge of arrangements.
