Frances Marie Brown

January 24, 1956 — May 6, 2023

Frances Marie Brown, 67, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. She was born January 24, 1956 in Marvell, Arkansas to the late Willie and Francis Sutton Pollard.

She had a love for the Lord that encouraged and flourished her relationship with Him. She was a member of House of Prayer Church.

Frances was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ovell Brown, in Little Rock, Arkansas. To this union, four children were born, one son and three daughters. She worked as a homemaker and lovingly cared for her family and their home.

She loved the outdoors and living life. Gardening, fishing, going on country rides, and feeding birds at the park were things close to her heart. Riding in her power chair, shopping, and attending church activities were also favorite past times of hers. She was a bright soul with a big heart. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, cooking, and catering. Being in the kitchen and cooking for her loved ones brought her joy. Frances was happy when spending time with family, doing things such as shooting pool, playing spades, talking, and listening to music. When her children asked, “Mom, what are you doing?”, she would respond “Looking pretty because I’m a good-looking chick”. She could also be found watching movies and dance videos. Frances will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Billy, Jerome, and Fat.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her husband, Ovell Brown, her son, Ovell Brown, Jr., her daughters, Sandra Pollard, Linda Pollard, and Sherry Pollard, her brothers, Willie Pollard, Samuel Pollard, and Johnny Pollard, her sisters, Jospehine Fuller, Ora Reed, Peggy Boyd, and Viola Morgan, her brothers-in-law, Harvey Merriweather and Wesley Merriweather, her sisters-in-law, Glenda Merriweather, Callie Merriweather, Linda Merriweather, Deborah Merriweather, Brenda Merriweather, Robin Merriweather, and Elaine Brown, her best friends, Deloris Scales Hall, Helen Merriweather, and Sandra Pryor, and a host of nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, other relatives, and friends, including the Merriweather, Brown, Oliver, Hughes, McDaniel, Reed, Sutton, McCauley, Tucker, Walker, Smith, Moore, Pryor, Hall/Scales, McAllister, Fuller, Huff, Robinson, Pollard, and Blackmon families.
