George Kent, Jr.

George Kent, Jr., 66, beloved son, father, brother, and grandfather, resident of Charleston, Missouri passed away, Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  He was born June 11, 1956 in Charleston to George Kent, Sr. and Susie Bea Reed Kent.

He was the fifth child born of eleven children.  He attended Charleston High School.

George joined Perry Chapel A.M.E. in Charleston, where he was baptized and served as an usher.  He was employed in various jobs over the years.

George enjoyed spending time with family and friends and watching football.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jean Kent Rodgers and Eilleen Kent.

George leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Darron Kent of Fort Stewart, Georgia and George Gregory Kent of Wyatt, Missouri, two daughters, Darshann Kent of Charleston, Missouri and Yaszmin Clemons Rodgers of Charlotte, North Carolina, two brothers, Rick (Sarah) Kent of Charleston, Missouri and Stephenson Kent of Sikeston, Missouri, six sisters, Barbara Reed of Chicago, Illinois, Mary Lillian Kent Ross of Cairo, Illinois, Georgia Bea Kent Anderson of Peoria, Illinois, Juliet Kent-Hemphill of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Carolyn Frances Kent of Charleston, Missouri, and Sandy (Demegee) Redd of Sikeston, Missouri, 18 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Perry Chapel A.M.E. Church with Pastor Carolyn Kent officiating and Pastor Juliet Kent-Hemphill eulogizing.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with the Williams Funeral Homes of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
