Gilbert Gerard Lampkin was born October 2, 1952 to the late Robert Sr. and Bertha Lampkin. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers, Alonzo Hoover, Sr., Roy Lee Lampkin, Roger Lampkin, Terry Lee Lampkin, Willie Randle, Jr., and Dwight Randle, and one sister, Gathella Lampkin. Gilbert graduated from Charleston Sr. High School in 1972. He entered into the United States Navy in December of 1972 and was honorably discharged on October 4, 1974. While attending high school, he was an active member of the track team, football team, and wrestling team. His passion was singing, which was one he mastered. Gilbert was quiet, very well spoken and always loved to dress well and look his best. When he wasn’t doing sports, he enjoyed hanging with his best buddies, but one of his greatest loves was loving and serving God. On June 14, 2023 while a patient at the River Walk Nursing Facility in Noblesville, Indiana, Gilbert answered God’s call at the age of 70 years, eight months, and 12 days. He leaves to cherish his precious memories one daughter, LaDonna Patrice (Reggie) Williams of Greenfield, Indiana, three grandchildren, Isaiah, Isaac, and Isabella, all of Indiana, a special granddaughter, Olivia Clark of Indiana, two brothers, Robert Lampkin of Victorville, California, and David Lampkin of Richmond, California, three sisters, Janice Lampkin Parnell of Whiting, Indiana, and Patricia Lampkin, and Sheila Randle both of Charleston, Missouri, a very special friend, Deborah Rigney, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Perry Chapel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, Missouri with Pastor Carolyn Kent officiating.
