Helen Richard was born July 3, 1954 in Parma, Missouri to Burdette Richard and Barbara Thomas. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Courtney, and her grandson, Semaj.
Helen developed a personal relationship and deemed Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She was a Mother at her church, Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Marston, Missouri. She served the Lord under the leadership of Pastor Keith Frye.
She graduated in 1973 from Lilbourn High School in Lilbourn, Missouri. Upon graduating, she attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Helen worked at DAEOC Head Start for many years.
In her free time, Helen could be found in the kitchen, cooking her favorite meals, or watching the Patriots play football. She enjoyed spending time with family and those she loved. Helen had a passion for serving others. Her big heart will be truly missed.
On Sunday, March 24, 2024 while at her home in Cape surrounded by family, Helen was taken from our midst. She transitioned at the age of 69 years, eight months and 21 days.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her son, Thomas Richard of New Madrid, Missouri, one daughter, Faith Richards Smith of the home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, four brothers, Burdette Richard, Jr., Keith Richard, Dewayne Richard, and Darnell Richard all of Jacksonville, Florida, four sisters, Patrica Robinson of Hayti, Missouri, Jeannete Stevenson of Lawton, Oklahoma, Sharon Shavers of Homestown, Missouri, and Virginia Mayweather of Kansas City, Missouri, a best friend from the eighth grade that became a sister, Agnes Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
