Herman Betts, 72, resident of St. Louis, formerly of Charleston, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Evelyn's House in Creve Coeur, Missouri. He was born July 28, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Jim and Mattie Johnson Betts. He was the ninth child born to this union, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Herman was raised in his beloved hometown of Charleston, Missouri. He moved to St. Louis in the 1960's where he worked at Ford Motor Company for 35 years.
Herman confessed his faith in Christ at an early age. He was educated in the Charleston Public School District. In later years, he united with St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church. He faithfully attended church services and bible study until his health failed.
One of many hobbies was rehabbing houses and working on cars and trucks in his spare time. To his family, he was always there when needed. Family was very important to him, he always wanted the best for everyone in the family.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian, four sons, two daughters, one daughter-in-law, ten grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters, four sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, a host of loving and caring family, friends, his church family neighbors and the phenomenal Evelyn's House Caregiver Team.
Friends may call Monday, June 25, 2018 from 10:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 11:00 A. M. at Opportunity Church of God in Christ with Pastor Steve Betts officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston, Missouri, with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
