Herman Conrad Straughter, 73, resident of Charleston, Missouri died Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri. He was born February 17, 1948 in Charleston, Missouri to the late Marshall Ewing and Ardell Walker Straughter.
Herman was a graduate of Soldan High School in St. Louis Missouri. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served honorably from 1969 until 1971.
Herman loved to entertain. His passion was music and he was considered one of the best disc jockeys in the area. It was a joy for him to see others happy. The kids in the community loved him and he was always lending a helping hand. He would even stop on the side of the road to help others.
He enjoyed fishing, especially “night fishing” and running. He loved to eat home-cooked meals and loved his mom's sweet potato pies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Straughter, two brothers, Sherwood Cross and Robert Lee Straughter, and two sisters Ruth Ann Sanford and Wilma Straughter.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, four daughters, Kimberly (Paul) Straughter Pfeifer of Parker, Colorado, Denise (Joseph) Straughter Harris, Carrie Straughter, and Yolanda George all of Memphis, Tennessee, two brothers, Marshall Straughter of Memphis, Tennessee and Donnie Straughter of Charleston, Missouri, five sisters, Beverly Jones and Georgia Straughter of Charleston, Missouri, Margaret Helen Hassel and Clara Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, and Ava Hodges of Dallas, Texas, several grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with Pastor Arthur Cassell officiating. Full military honors will be accorded at 1:30 P.M.
