Hershel Banks, 30, resident of Austell, Georgia, formerly of Charleston, Missouri, died Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born November 25, 1991 in St. Louis, Missouri to Michael Banks of Austell, Georgia and to the late Joyce Riley.
Hershel lived most of his life with his father in Marietta, Georgia where he attended South Cobb High School. He was a star athlete in football and was an avid weightlifter. He earned a football scholarship.
Herschel had a big personality. He was a entrepreneur and aspiring rapper, He loved his music, making videos, and traveling.
Hershel was loved by many and he would help anybody. He had a personal relationship with God until his death.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his grandparents Sylvester and Sally Banks, Otha Mary Riley, and John Miller, and his brother, Jacaoby Dowell.
Herschel is survived by his father, Michael Banks of Austell, Georgia, six brothers, Fredrick Riley and Michael Banks, Jr. of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mikel Banks of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Tray Dunnigan, Cam Swanson, and Marcus Banks of Marietta, Georgia, three sisters, Zacarah (Michael) Clark of Sikeston, Missouri, Mya Lane and Morgan Dowell of Austell, Georgia, a special friend and stepdaughter, uncles, aunts, 17 nephews and nieces, all of whom he loved so dearly, including other relatives and friends who were like family.
Friends may call Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Ollie Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Wilson City, Missouri with Pastor Samuel Gibson, officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Homes of Charleston, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
