Irene Parker was born November 29, 1930, in Driver, Arkansas to Lonnie and Arree Branch Parker. She was one of thirteen children. She departed her earthly journey on Saturday, February 18, 2023, in Sikeston, MO.
She married Johnnie Long Sr., March 7, 1953. To this union nine children were born. Sister Irene Long accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was the oldest member of our congregation.
She was a home health care worker for many years. She had a remarkable memory and could remember everyone’s birthday. Mrs. Irene wanted her whole family to know that she loved them.
Those preceding her in death are her parents; Lonnie and Arree Branch Parker, her husband; Johnnie Long, Sr. of 50 years, 12 siblings, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Those left to cherish her memories: nine children, five boys and four girls, Tyler Long, Portageville, MO., Johnny Long Jr. (Julia) Sikeston, MO., Jerry Long (Cheryl) St. Louis, MO., Bobbie McFerren, Lilbourn, MO., Patricia Branion (LeRoy) Atlanta, GA., Mae Milton (Herman) Dyersburg, TN., Perry Long (Sheila) Cape Girardeau, MO., Mary Conley (Lonnie) Sikeston, MO. and Alva Long, Lilbourn, MO. 21 Grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. A complete family of nieces, nephews, cousins, Good Hope Church Family and friends.
Friends may call Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Marston, Missouri with Reverend James Long officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Mason Cemetery in Point Pleasant, Missouri. The Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
