James Roy White, Jr. died Friday, April 14, 2023, at Cotton Point Living Center in Matthews, Missouri. He was born December 21, 1933, in Cairo, Illinois to the late James Roy White, Sr. and the late Myrtle Alice McAnally White.
He graduated from Cairo High School in Cairo, Illinois in 1951. He furthered his education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, then at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1956.
James worked as an English and Communications instructor for the University of Minnesota Minneapolis and as a curator for Magnolia Manor in Cairo, Illinois.
In his free time, he enjoyed reading, collecting books, listening to music, and gardening. James will be missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Anne Elisabeth White, his sister, Jane White Borsick, and his long-time friend, Harry Graham.
He leaves to remember him his sister, Ruth White Hudson, his ex-wife Elisabeth White, sons, Ben, Tom and John of Minneapolis, his daughter Katherine White of Washington DC, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
