Jessie Lee Farr

September 8, 1950 — September 17, 2018

Jessie Lee Newson-Farr, affectionately known as Fuzzy, 68, resident of New Madrid, Missouri died Monday, September 17, 2018 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  She was born September 8, 1950 in Tate County, Mississippi to the late Jessie and Ann B. Woods Newson, Sr.

She professed her life in Christ at an early age, joining Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. She was an active member and served on the Mother Board, Pastor’s Aide, Choir Member, and Kitchen Aide. She cherished praising the Lord and during her final moments on “this” earth she never complained nor wavered her faith.

Graduating from Lilbourn High School in Lilbourn Missouri, she went on to work in the nursing field until she retired in 2011 from Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Missouri. She would later take on an encore position as a gatekeeper at New Madrid Family Resource Center where she was known to always be a helping hand in her community.

Jessie did volunteer work throughout New Madrid County helping anyone in need. She was one of the best known bakers and cooks. Her favorite thing to make for her family and friends was her famous, Honey Bun Cake. She was the rock to the family and always pushed closeness, connectiveness, and togetherness. To know her was to love her, and she would literally give you the skin off her back. She loved to laugh and would make any tough situation easy. She was “Momma Fuzz” to many and a firm believer of doing what was right and to love, despite all others. She would be the friend in the late night hour. Her ears, shoulders and doors where always open. She welcomed everyone with gentleness and kindness.

The best way to remember her is during her time of failed health, she would tell her kids, “We are only passing through. We are not meant to live on THIS earth. I’m ready, so y’all best GET READY.”

In addition to her children, she is survived by 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, siblings, a special great aunt, Mollie Rucker, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour of 2:00 pm at New Madrid Baptist Church, 1240 Scott Street in New Madrid, Missouri with Reverend Darryl Minner officiating.  Interment will follow in Simmons Park Cemetery in Catron, Missouri.
