Jewell Henry Smith

Jewell Henry Smith, 72, resident of Charleston, Missouri died Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in the Sikeston Convalescent Center.  He was born May 21, 1948 in Pinhook, Missouri to the late Thatus Smith and Bedella Walker Smith.

He was the fifth born of 16 children, nine boys and seven girls.

On October 7, 1993, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Connie Zaborac. She precedes him in death.

Jewel was self-employed. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents and wife, his four brothers, Jerry Smith, Delmar Smith, Audrey Smith, and James Smith, one son, Jewell Smith, Jr., and two grandsons, Everette Yates and Logan Bratton have also preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories four sons, Byrian (Wendy) Joe Smith of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Willie (Chelsie) Bratton of Davenport, Iowa, Marvin Smith of East Prairie, Missouri, and Brandon Smith of Charleston, Missouri, three daughters, Tamara Spillers of Jennings, Missouri, LaTosha Jones of East Prairie, Missouri, and Tonia Smith of Ashtabula, Ohio, four brothers, Luther Smith of St. Louis, Missouri, Thatus (Maxine) Smith of Omaha, Nebraska, Larry Smith of Charleston, Missouri, and Gary Smith of Murphysboro, Illinois, seven sisters, Stella (Ben) Huntington and Thelma Smith of Carlyle, Illinois, Carliss (Henry) Sager of Charleston, Missouri, Shirley (Nathaniel) Burke of Aurora, Illinois, Fannie Smith of Wyatt, Missouri, Linda (Milan) Suggs of Centralia, Illinois, and Irene Acoff of St. Louis, Missouri, 21 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Friends may call Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M. at House of Prayer World Outreach Center, 216 North Elm Street, in Charleston, Missouri with Minister Dorothy Alston officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery immediately following the service.  The Williams Funeral Homes of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
