John L. Williams, affectionately known as Poochie, 56, resident of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, formerly of Haywood City, Missouri died Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born May 8, 1964 in Advance, Missouri to the late Wince Lee Williams and Ossie Lee Braxton Williams.
He graduated from Scott County Central High School in 1982. He furthered his education by attending College of the Ozarks. There he earned his bachelor's degree.
He was employed by the Missouri Division of Youth Services for many, many years. His employment would include a variety of positions, including management, and allowed him to work throughout the state to include New Madrid, St. Louis and Poplar Bluff. Once he retired from there, he became a case manager for the Community Counseling Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
John had a personal relationship with God. He attended and was baptized at Cape First Church in Sikeston, Missouri.
He was a family man. Spending time with his children and grandchildren made him very happy. He liked to be "out and about," and did not mind driving. One of his most recent road trips was traveling to Florida to spend time with the grandchildren.
When he wasn't working or enjoying his grandchildren, John liked to lay on his couch and watch television. His idea of relaxing was enjoying a good game of football at home.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Willie Braxton, and two sisters, Delores Williams and Mary Williams.
John is survived by one son, Ladrez Randle of Orlando, Florida, three daughters, Latoyya Williams of Orlando, Florida, Autumn Dowell of Atlanta, Georgia, and Chyari Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, four brothers, Wince Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, Robert (Jerlean) Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, James (Linda) Williams and Clarence Williams of Haywood City, Missouri, a special friend, Taren Carpenter of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, three grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at New Morning Star Cemetery in Haywood City, Missouri. The Williams Funeral Homes of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
