Johnnie Lee Johnson was born October 12, 1949 in Tunica, Mississippi to Ellie and Sylvia Thomas Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ezekiel Johnson, Clyde Johnson, and Albert Johnson, his sister, Evelyn Johnson, a son, Christopher Guest, two grandsons, Joseph Guest, Jr. and Fred Cotton. His life partner and soulmate, Earnestine Guest, also preceded him in death on December 6, 2023.
Johnnie was baptized at an early age at Hopewell Baptist Church in Tunica, Mississippi. Johnnie started and finished his education in Tunica by attending Rosa Fort School.
As a young man, his family relocated to Kewanee, Missouri, where he worked as a farm laborer for Jay Blankenship Farms until he retired. Johnnie was a very hard worker. He took pride in providing for his family.
Johnnie loved hunting and was an avid hunter, and he loved spending time with his brothers. His children and grandchildren were the loves of his life along with his life partner.
He was an honest and faithful man with a pure heart. He loved to laugh and crack jokes, and when he loved, he loved hard.
Johnnie passed away with family at his side, Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 74 years, three months, and 25 days.
He leaves to cherish his memories, three sons, Johnnie Johnson, Jr. of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Joseph (Willie) Guest and Gregory Guest of Sikeston, Missouri, two daughters, Tunisha Valentine of Sikeston, Missouri and LaTanya Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, one daughter-in-law, Tanekka Guest of St. Louis, Missouri, nine brothers, Ellis Johnson, Perry Johnson, Sammy Johnson, Lamont Johnson, Daniel Johnosn, Ronnie Johnson, Sammy Johnson, Larry Jones, and Sammy Lee Jones, six sisters, Racheal Johnson, Versia Johnson, Delores Johnson, Gloria (Terry) Johnson Ross, Sandra Johnson, and Joyce Ann Johnson, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation and services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, Missouri. The Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
