Joseph Kellum

Joseph "Joe" Kellum, 65, resident of Sikeston, Missouri died Friday, October 23, 2020 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.  He was born November 20, 1954 in New Madrid, Missouri to the late John  and Georgia Ann Robinson Kellum.

Joe attended Murphysboro High School located in Murphysboro, Illinois. In October of 1972, he enlisted in the United States Army.  He was honorably discharged in November of 1975.

On May 29, 1993, he and Gwendolyn E. Dotson were united in marriage in New Madrid, Missouri.

Joe attended church regularly and was of the Baptist faith.  He also served as a Deacon.

He was employed at Noranda Aluminum in New Madrid, Missouri for many, many years.  He also worked at the Williams Funeral Homes, Inc. for many years.  When he wasn't working, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Antonio Jones, one brother, Melvin Kellum, and four sisters, Ethel Silas, Archie D. Kellum, Dorothy Word and Johnnie Mae Holmes.

Joe is survived by his wife of 27 years, Gwendolyn E. Kellum, who survives of the home, three sons, Reggie Allen of Kokomo, Indiana, Nick Kellum of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Joseph D. Kellum of Minneapolis, Minnesota, three daughters, N'Valitreal Kellum and LaToya N. Kellum of St. Louis Park, Minnesota and Georgina J. Kellum of Minneapolis, Minnesota, six brothers, Lloyd Hinton, Jr. of Carbondale, Illinois, Elbert (Cynthia) Kellum and John (Dorothy) Kellum, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida, Samuel Bowden of Lake Charles, Louisiana,  and Charles (Brenda) Kellum and Lonnie (Willetta) Kellum of New Madrid, Missouri, three sisters, Bertha Burgess of New Madrid, Missouri, Rosemary (Carl) Graham of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Connie Simmons of Dexter, Missouri, a very special friend, Larry Patterson, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, friends, and his canine companions.

Friends may call Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ with Reverend Ronald Williams  officiating.  Interment will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery in New Madrid, Missouri with full military honors.  The Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
