Joyce Elaine Fields, 52, resident of Portageville, Missouri, died Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was born November 16, 1965 in Tupelo, Mississippi to the late Rube Fields and Rosanna Dixon Fields of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Her family moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where Joyce attended school. She later went back to school to become a Certified Medical Assistant, which allowed her to work as a Nurse’s Aide. She later attended Olympia Technical School and became a Certified Medical Office Administrator.
Joyce committed her life to God in 2003 at Macedonia M B Church where she sang in the choir, worked with the women’s ministry and also the nurse’s ministry where she was the Vice President and later became the nursing ministry’s President. Joyce truly loved the Lord, enjoyed reading her bible and was always ready to do whatever she could for the kingdom!
Joyce moved to Portageville, Missouri in 2013 and continued her work in the church and the community. She became employed at Portageville Nursing Home and became the Activities Director which brought her so much joy. She was a member of Lily of the Valley Church in Point Pleasant, Missouri.
Joyce enjoyed board games and playing bingo. She loved cooking, especially shrimp, and baked the best lemon pound cake with homemade lemon zest frosting. Spending time with her family meant the world to her.
On October 18, 2018, Joyce departed from this earth. She was preceded in death by her father Rube Fields, brother James Dixon, and sister Ruth Mae Fields.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, three children, her daughter April Fields of Portageville, Missouri, two sons, Erik Spears and Derrick Spears, both of Flint, Michigan, five wonderful grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Abrianna Fields, Terry Kirkwood, Jr., Antasia Fields, Cambrie Spears, and Kamar Wilson, three sisters, Rosetta Hill, Ethel Fields, Joeann Fields of Grand Rapids, Michigan, two brothers, Willie Fields and Ricky Fields of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a special friend of 35 years, Terri Redditt, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Friday, October 26, 2018 at 2:00 P. M. at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Howardville, Missouri.
