Judia Theresa Redman

September 2, 1935 — November 14, 2021

Judia Theresa Redman, 86, affectionately known as Ms. Judy, died Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.  She was born September 2, 1935 in New Madrid, Missouri to the late Milton and Blanche Alston White.

She attended O’Bannon High School in New Madrid, Missouri and graduated in 1952 at the age of 16 as valedictorian.

Judia accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful, lifelong member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in New Madrid, Missouri. She served as the church secretary and trustee for many years. She was also a member of the adult choir. The church recognized her and her sister as the oldest members on October 13, 2019.

Judia was united in marriage to Arthur Redman. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1996.

She was employed as the Nutrition Education Assistant for the University of Missouri Extension Office in New Madrid County. She retired after many years of service.

Judia, along with other community members, was instrumental in helping to create the New Town Improvement Organization (NTIO) for the betterment of the black community. Together, they implemented playground equipment for the old O’Bannon school ground.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arther Redman, her daughter, Gloria Minner Johnson, her sisters, Floyd Edwards, Carrie Bea Sims, Gladys McChristian and Ruby White, her brother, Carl White Hardin, two grandsons James Combs and Perez Julian, her great-grandson, Corey Minner, Jr., and her first husband, Pete Minner.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories Donald (Deborah) Minner, Lori Ann Stubbs, Vincent Minner, and Mark Minner all of New Madrid, Missouri, Barbara Williamson of St. Louis, Missouri, Darryl (Rose) Minner of Sikeston, Missouri, Charlotte (Perry) Julian of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Regina (Johnny, Jr.) Nichols of Jacksonville, Illinois, 25 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Friends may call Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M. at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in New Madrid, Missouri with Pastor Robert L. Anderson eulogizing and Reverend Johnny Nichols, Jr. officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with the Williams Funeral Homes of Howardville in charge of arrangements.
