L. A. Green, 71, resident of Charleston, Missouri, died March 15, 2020 at his home. He was born June 22, 1948 in Widener, Arkansas to the late Elisha and Clotean Gilbert Green.

He accepted Christ into his life at an early age and was baptized while attending White Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Widener, Arkansas under the leadership of Reverend Harvey J. Irving.  It is here that he began his walk with God.  He would later become a deacon at New Light Church in Chicago, Illinois under the direction of the pastor, Roosevelt Bradley, Jr.

L. A. was a 1966 graduate of Lincoln Senior High School in Forrest City, Arkansas.

In 1968, he entered the United States Army, where he served his country actively until 1971.  During this time he was trained to be a switchboard operator.  He also obtained the National  Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Dev 60 Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and  O/S Bar 2 nd Award.  He received an Honorable Discharge and served in the Army Reserve until March 17, 1974.

On March 27, 1969, L. A. Green was united in marriage to Martha Clemons in Chicago, Illinois. To this union, one son was added, Ondray Green.

L. A. was a truck driver, and he also sold insurance for Western and Southern Life Insurance in Chicago, Illinois.  He also enjoyed fishing and traveling.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, his son, two brothers, Earl Brookin and Elisha Green, Jr. and one sister, Beverly Green.

He is survived by three brothers, Levoy Green of Memphis, Tennessee, Frederick (Alcenia) Green of Millington, Tennessee and David Green of West Memphis, Arkansas, two sisters, Shirley Jones of Chicago, Illinois and Patricia Peacock of Palestine, Arkansas, two grandsons, DeOndray Green of Chicago, Illinois and Anton Carr of Detroit, Michigan, one daughter-in-law, Sharon Williams Green of Chicago, Illinois, one brother-in-law, Clifford Clemons of Chicago, Illinois, three sisters-in-law, Albirdie Clemons Shaw of Sikeston, Missouri, Betty Clemons Hill of Chicago, Illinois, and Shirley Clemons Johnson of Charleston, Missouri, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services will be Saturday, March 28, 2020 at  1:00 P. M. with Pastor Arthur Cassell in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston, Missouri with full military honors.  The Williams Funeral Homes of Charleston, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Due to the Covid 19 (coronavirus) worldwide pandemic and in accordance with the Center for Disease Control recommendations of social distancing, Williams Funeral Homes is respectfully requesting to keep the crowd to a minimum.
