Leon Bradley, Jr. was born January 9, 1934 in Osceola, Arkansas to Leon Bradley, Sr. and Mary Bradley Hunt. He was one of nine children; one brother and seven sisters. His parents and all of his siblings have preceded him in death.
Leon accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with Mount Hope Baptist Church in Deventer, Missouri. He later joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in Wolf Island, Missouri under the leadership of Rev. Sylvester Davis, Sr. where he served on the Deacon Board.
On June 29, 1953, he was united in Holy Matrimony to his loving and devoted wife, Inez Washington Bradley. To this union thirteen children were born. His wife preceded him in death on May 16, 2011 as well as three children, Robert Bradley, Edgar Bradley, Eddie Petty, one grandson, Terrance Bradley and two great granddaughters, Azaria Bradley and Ajiva Bradley.
Leon was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked as a farmer until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, singing, listening to gospel music and spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved spending time with all of his sons-in-law.
On January 28, 2023, while under the provision of hospice at the Life Care Nursing Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, God sent an angel to call His servant home at the age of 89 years and 19 days.
He leaves to cherish his memory five sons and one daughter in-law, Leroy and Rosetta Bradley of Sikeston, Missouri, Benny Bradley of Sikeston, Missouri, Donald Bradley of Pinhook, Missouri, Terry Bradley of Indianapolis, Indiana, Larry Bradley of Jonesboro, Arkansas; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Bernice and Shedrick Johnson of Charleston, Missouri, Janette and Rev. J. Michael Wright of Champaign, Illinois, Ruth Ann and Charles Luckett of Charleston, Missouri, Mary Ann and Rev. Ronald Sloan of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Patricia and Mitch Clark of East Prairie, Missouri, Lisa Bradley and Ricky Cobbs of Urbana, Illinois, 23 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 11:00 A.M.until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, Missouri with Reverend Ronald Sloan officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Homes of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
The family of Mr. Bradley requests that all who attends his services brings and wears a mask.
