Leonard C. Gallion, 74, affectionately known as L.C., died on June 28, 2022, while at Regional Medical Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born March 19, 1948 in Itta Bena, Mississippi to the late J.C. Gallion and Elouise Jefro Fullilove. He graduated from East Prairie High School in East Prairie, Missouri. He would further his education by attending Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. L.C. entered the United States Army in August of 1968. During his tour of duty, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He served his country honorably. In his free time, L.C. enjoyed fishing and hunting. He could also be found at the casino, playing his favorite games. Family and friends will miss him saying, “Keep living, you’ll see.” L.C will be truly missed. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Abe Fullilove, Sr., three brothers, Jimmy Fullilove, Sidney Fullilove, and Maurice Fullilove, and his grandson, Jajhirien Caldwell. He leaves to cherish his precious memories two sons, Nicky Strayhorn of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Virgil Gallion of Charleston, Missouri, two daughters, Cheree Smith of Memphis, Tennessee and Tekisha Gallion of Charleston, Missouri, two brothers, Abe (Juanita) Fullilove, Jr. of Posen, Illinois, and Ernie Fullilove of Chicago, Illinois, seven sisters, Lilly Dixon of DuQuoin, Illinois, Glory (James) Collins of Aurora, Colorado, Margaret Thomas of Gary, Indiana, Valerie Fullilove of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sharon (Lorenzo) Evans and Vanessa Fullilove both of Chicago, Illinois, and Marcella (Tyran) Fullilove of Cairo, Illinois, his grandchildren, Larenzle Coleman II, Devontae Gates, Precious Moray, Tekisha Bonner, Brianna Bonner, Myiesha White and Tyeisha White, his favorite nephew, Sean Fullilove, his favorite niece, Sharonda Bailey, his best friend, Lester Moore, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Friends may call Friday, July 8, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at 11:00 A.M. at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Melvin Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Mound City National Cemetery with full military honors in Mound City, Illinois. The Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
