Lillian Marie Davis was born January 21, 1946, in Chicago, IL to Jesse Davis and Floatee Evans Davis. She was the oldest of four children. She departed this life early Sunday morning, November 10, 2024 at her home in New Madrid, MO.
She was baptized in 1962 and joined Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Marston, MO. She was a dedicated lifelong member for over 62 years. During those years she faithfully served as Program Chair, Culinary Chair, Decorating Committee, Church Announcer, Sunday School Youth Teacher, and BTU Skit writer. She presently was serving as Church Treasurer, Pastor Aide Committee Secretary and a member of the Cancer Awareness Culinary Committee.
Lillian was a loving person. She enjoyed living life to its fullest and never met a stranger. She loved being with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She truly loved cooking and blessing others with her delicious meals. Lillian had a heart of gold too and would give you the clothes off her back. A truthful kindhearted woman of God. She had her own personal prison ministry. She would write letters to inmates, send them prayers and scriptures. Some of them upon their release came to visit her. Other hobbies were arts and crafts, writing poems and plays.
She married Charles Hamilton in 1981. She was employed with New Madrid County R-1 School District for many many years as a teacher aide and bus driver. She also was bus driver for DAEOC Head Start.
Proceeding her in death were: her Parents, Jesse Davis & Floatee Davis. Grandmother, Lula Evans. Son, Gregory Davis. Sister, Wilma Davis Helms, Brother-in-law, William Helms, Great-granddaughter, Laylani Cody.
Lillian leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Marva Davis Burton, New Madrid, MO. Two sons, Shawn (Deborah) Davis, Marietta, GA and Kevin (Julia) Davis, Sikeston, MO, daughter-in-law, Jasmikia Davis, Lilbourn, MO, one son-in-law who she called “Her Boy” Anthony Piper, Temple, TX. Five granddaughters, Mercedez Resonno, Monica Davis, Jamicia Davis, Marshae Davis, and Wynter Davis. Eight grandsons, Shamaudre (Shantel) Davis, Mason Burrage-Burton, Evan Davis, Austin (Alexis) Davis, Derric Raymond, Nehemiah Raymond, Naim Raymond and Nasir Raymond. Ten great-grandchildren. Sister, Mary Davis, New Madrid, MO. Brother, Larry Davis, Portageville, MO. Uncle, James Sylvester Evans, Chicago, IL; Niece, Freddra Richardson, Jefferson City, MO; Niece, Brandi Stallworth, Detroit; MI. Nephew, Victor Davis, Dallas, TX. A host of cousins, friends, several bonus daughters and sons and the Good Hope Church Family.
Friends may call Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Good Hope Baptist Church in Marston, Missouri. Interment will immediately follow in Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid.
