Lonnie Denell Johnson, Sr., affectionately known as Lakeside, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at his home in Charleston, Missouri. He was born February 18, 1956 in Wyatt, Missouri to the late James Elijah "Jack" Johnson and the late Sadie Hampton Johnson.
Lonnie was a 1974 graduate of Charleston High School in Charleston, Missouri.
He was a hard-working man who was employed in a variety of positions. He was a factory worker at Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau, Missouri for many years, a custodian at the Charleston Manor Skilled Nursing Facility and was currently employed at the Nutrition Center in Charleston, Missouri.
Lakeside was a fun-loving person that enjoyed life to the fullest. He was known by his "distinctive" laughter. Family was especially important to him, and he took advantage of every opportunity to get together with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Lonnie Fisher Johnson, Jr. and one brother, Ricky Johnson.
Lonnie is survived by five sons, Elijah Joseph Fisher of Omaha, Nebraska, Shaundale Johnson of Marion, Illinois, Evan Johnson and Marcus Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Lavontay Johnson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, two daughters, Sadie Johnson and Sylvanna Johnson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, two foster brothers, Gawain Brown of East St. Louis, Illinois and Richard Robinson of Sikeston, Missouri, 19 grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 pm at House of Prayer World Outreach Center in Charleston, Missouri with Dr. Henry L. Clark, Jr. officiating.
