Mae Frances Kenny

Mae Frances Kenny, 79, resident of Cairo, Illinois, died Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Kindred Rehab Hospital in Northlake, Illinois.  She was born January 17, 1939 in Hayti, Missouri to the late Jimmie and Justine Randolph Carlton.

Mae accepted Christ into her life and in 2003 became an active member of Cairo Church of Christ where she was appointed as a trustee with charge and control of real and personal property.  She was a member until the church dissolved and she moved her membership to Charleston Church of Christ.  Wherever Mae had her membership she was faithful.

She was employed at Chair and King Upholstery in Chicago before going to work at Motorola in Melrose Park, Illinois.  Mae retired from Motorola after over 31 years of work.  She was then employed at the University of Illinois in Chicago, Illinois.

Mae enjoyed listening to Christian music and world news.  She also enjoyed being with Ms. Ida and also shopping with her.  She had a devoted love for her family.

In addition to her parents  she is preceded in death by five brothers, Henry Carlton, Willie Carlton, Norman Carlton, Billy Joe Carlton, and Frankie Lee Carlton and one brother-in-law, Joe Nelson.

She is survived by one son, Gary Carlton of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, one daughter, Taranica  Kenny of Cairo, Illinois, four brothers, Jimmy (Linda) Carlton, Jr. of Salisbury, Maryland, Johnnie Carlton of Chicago, Illinois, Melvin (Ora) Carlton of Davenport, Iowa and Sylvester  Carlton of Cairo, Illinois, three sisters, Ida Mae (Roosevelt) Clayton and Geraldine Nelson of Cairo, Illinois, and Lillie Hopkin of Addison, Illinois, one sister-in-law, Mozella Carlton of Kalamazoo, Michigan, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Friday, September 21, 2018 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at First Central Missionary Baptist Church in Cairo, Illinois, with Assistant Pastor Pamela Carlton officiating and Minister Pete Nuthak is the Eulogist.  Interment will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, Illinois with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
