Major Eugene Reed

May 25, 1970 — February 2, 2020

Major Eugene Reed was born May 25, 1970 in Hayti, Missouri to Curtis Louden and Linda Kaye Reed Burton.  As the eldest of three children, he was a protective son and big brother, especially of his sister.

He was a very strong willed and courageous child with a gentle heart.  As an adolescent, he loved Bruce Lee and Evil Knievel, and he always enjoyed watching wrestling, The Incredible Hulk, Bionic Man and his all-time favorite Spider Man.  Major also enjoyed spending lots of time with his cousin and partner in crime, Anthony.  He stayed at his house more than he did his own.

Major grew up in the Baptist church and was baptized at an early age.  In December 2015, he made the best decision of his life confessing and accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  From that day on he purposed to become a better person as well as a better man.   His hobbies in life were fishing, riding his motorcycle, and flying his remote control airplanes.  He also enjoyed smoking meat on the grill.  He had a love for dogs, especially his German Shepherd, "Bullett".

Major was a hard worker and an overall pretty cool, laid back kind of guy.  One gift he had but seldom shared was his voice.  He could sing very well, but didn't find it to be one of his greatest strengths.

On February 2, 2020, Major was called from his place on earth into his eternal home.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Major and Minnie Reed, his brother, Jimmie "Jim Bob" Simpson  and his favorite uncle, William Reed.

Those he leaves to cherish his memories are his wife, Letricia Reed, his parents, Linda and Sidney Burton of Lilbourn, Missouri, two sons, August Christopher Patton of Portageville, Missouri and Dominque Maxwell of  Cape Girardeau, Missouri, one step son, Lamar Owens (Janisha) of Lilbourn, Missouri, two step daughters, Tashima Owens of Lilbourn, Missouri and Moshe' Owens of Atlanta, Georgia,  one sister, Melinda Reed of Sikeston, Missouri, one step brother, Marcus Burton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, his forever brother-in-law, Keith A. Reed of Lakewood, Washington, his special aunt, Odessa Reed of Murphysboro, Illinois, seven grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew, four great nieces and four great nephews,  and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church  in Marston, Missouri with Pastor Kirk Dunnavant, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Homestown Cemetery in Homestown, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Home of Howardville, Missouri  in charge of arrangements.
