Mamie Elizabeth Davis, 89, resident of Sikeston, Missouri, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston, Missouri. She was born October 31, 1928 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Youlus Thomas (YT) Davis and Elizabeth Allen Davis.
Mamie professed a hope in Jesus Christ at an early age and was a former member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri.
She dedicated over 40 years of her life as a proud worker for the Freemans, where she was a housekeeper and a nanny.
She also spent much of her life helping her children raise and provide for her grandchildren.
Mamie enjoyed watching "The Young and the Restless", working in puzzle books and collecting home and garden magazines while drinking her favorite soft drink, Coke. In the last few years, her favorite became chocolate milk.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Alex Davis, two sisters, Margaret Davis and Odessa Campbell, one son, Harold Davis, one daughter, Cathy Davis, two grandsons, Kenny Davis and Ramon Pullen, one granddaughter, Ashley Davis, one great grandson, Chance Bratcher, and two great great grandchildren, Zariah Blackmon and Dallas Davis.
She leaves to cherish precious memories, one son, Richard Davis of Sikeston, Missouri, seven daughters, Francis Williams of Chicago, Illinois, Dorothy Davis, Terry (Andy) Taylor, and Carla Davis of Sikeston, Missouri, Debra Taylor of Fresno, California, Tracy Davis of St. Louis, Missouri, and Dawn Davis of Atlanta, Georgia, one brother, Robert Davis of Chicago, Illinois, four sisters, Alma Woods of Detroit, Michigan, Doris Peet-Harris of Sikeston, Missouri, Ruby Segers of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mary Terry of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 NOON at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ in Sikeston, Missouri where Elder Charlie Green III is the pastor and Rev, Alex Sims is officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri with the Williams funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
