Marietta Warfield

April 18, 1943 — November 5, 2019

Marietta Warfield, 76, affectionately known as Rita, resident of Sikeston, Missouri died November 5, 2019 at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.  She was born  April 18, 1943 in Bell City, Missouri to the late Betty Lee Simmons and Johnny Gustavia Warfield.

Rita graduated from Sikeston Senior High School and attended Lincoln University (Missouri) where she majored in Elementary Education and minored in Psychology.

In her younger years she was a cheerleader. She taught school for many years in the Charleston area and also worked at Brown Shoe Company. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a very true person and spoke her mind. She was also a very serious card player and was good at it. She was a food person and loved to cook and eat. She would also do anything she could to help others. She was a fun person to be around and loved to entertain. Rita confessed a hope in Christ at a late age in life.

In additional to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Warfield, granddaughter J’andra Rice, two sisters: Levoulia Maxine Crenshaw and Lois Ellen Dixon, and one brother Robert Earl Simmons Sr.

Rita is survived by one son, Lee Gustavia (Mary) Warfield of Sikeston Missouri; seven grandchildren, Alexia Warfield of Jefferson City, Missouri, Shakirah Warfield, Keira Warfield, Daniel Lawrence, Marion Pulley of Sikeston, Missouri, Jakedon Rice, J’Yawna Rice of Jackson, Missouri; two sisters, Sheila Brown (Kenny) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Carol Brown of Atlanta, Georgia; three brothers, Fred Smith Jr. and Michael Dewayne Simmons (Jeanette) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Charles Stanley Simmons of Sikeston, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Minnie Simmons of Aberdeen, Mississippi; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M. at Jubilee House of Prayer in Sikeston, Missouri with Pastor Audrey Gail Emanuel officiating.  Interment will follow in the Warfield Cemetery in Oran, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Homes of Sikeston, Missouri is in charge of arrangements.
