Mary Elizabeth Rowe Applewhite

Mary Elizabeth Rowe Applewhite, 65, resident of Sikeston, Missouri, died Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.  She was born August 20, 1953 in Morley, Missouri to the late Hubert and Betty Hamilton Rowe.

She was a graduate of Scott County Central Public Schools  in rural Sikeston, Missouri, class of 1971.

Mary was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri where she was active in Willing Working Women.

On January 27, 1979, Mary was united in marriage to James Applewhite, who survives of the home.

Mary was more than delighted to help with her grandchildren whenever she was needed.  This was a joy in her life that could never be replaced.  She also enjoyed listening  to gospel music, cooking, reading, and shopping.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie and Donnell and one sister, Myra.

In addition to her husband, James Applewhite, Sr., she is survived by one son, James Applewhite, Jr. of Sikeston, Missouri, one daughter, LaTonya Applewhite of Sikeston, Missouri, four brothers, William Rowe and Fredrick (Phyllis) Rowe of Sikeston, Missouri, Cedrick Rowe of St. Louis, Missouri and Glenn (Tammia) Rowe of Pensacola, Florida, five sisters, Verlean (Nathaniel) Cobb of San Diego,  California, Jodella (Paul) Taylor of Sacramento, California, Barbara (James ) Shaw of Fort Worth, Texas, Callie (Hubert) Smoot of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Toria Rowe of St. Louis, Missouri, four grandchildren, Darrian, NaTasha and Jaiden of Sikeston, Missouri and James III of Columbia, Missouri, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri with the pastor, Reverend J. L. Nabors, officiating.  Interment  will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
