Mary Edna Moore Glasper

August 7, 1942 — November 18, 2018

Mary Edna Moore Glasper, resident of Haywood City, Missouri, died Sunday, November 18, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family .  She was born August 7, 1942 in Shuqualak, Mississippi to the late Bryant and Josephine Stewart Moore.

The family relocated to Southeast Missouri in 1949 and Mary attended Buck Ridge Elementary.  By age ten,  Mary and her family had moved to Haywood City, Missouri where she graduated  from Morley High School at the age of 16.

She relocated to East St. Louis, Illinois, where she furthered her education by attending Mildred Louise Business School.  She was employed in various jobs in several capacities including Clerical, Production and Customer Service.  In 1977, Mary obtained employment with Trans World Airlines as a Reservation Specialist.  She retired in 2003 after 25 years of services.

Mary was united in marriage to William Henry Glasper on October 31, 1964.   To this union two sons were born.

She and her family attended New Morning  Star Missionary Baptist Church.  After returning to Haywood City, Missouri she reunited with New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an Usher and as a Sunday School Teacher .  She embarked on a personal  mission to enhance, expand and support her home church.  One of her greatest accomplishment  was being involved in the building of her new church.  She also donated the proceeds from her famous 7-up Cake to erect the steeple atop of the church building now.

In the Summer of 2004, Mary soon became the City Clerk and was involved in the development  and management of a new Community Center  and in the paving of the roads in Haywood City, Missouri.  She hosted a FINCA project in an effort to share her love of her community and to be an example of self-sufficiency.

In addition to her parents, Bryant and Josephine Moore, she is also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Edwin Glasper, her brother, Harvey T. Moore and her sister, Caroline Moore Anderson.

She is survived by her husband of  54 years, William Glasper of Haywood City, Missouri, her son, Bryon Glasper of Fort Myers, Florida, one granddaughter, Alexis Williams of Haywood City, Missouri and a host of nephews, nieces,  cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 11:00 am until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Haywood City, Missouri with Pastor Alex Sims officiating.  Interment will take place on Monday, December 3, 2018  at 1:00 P. M. at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
