Morris Chappell, affectionately known as Maurice, was born March 2, 1957 in Charleston, Missouri to Milton Chappell and Geneva Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Chappell, Curtis Chappell, Frank Chappell and Alfreddie Pettigrew, and two sisters, Ruth Chappell and Emma Lee Chappell-Johnson. Morris graduated from Charleston High School, class of 1975. Shortly after graduation, Morris enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country honorably. He was employed at Cott Beverages Company in Sikeston, Missouri. In his free time, Morris loved to go fishing. He could also be found utilizing his carpentry skills. We can all hear him saying, "I got a plan" or “Use your money.” Morris was a good, devoted man. On Friday, June 17, 2022, Morris left his earthly home in Antioch, Tennessee for his heavenly home at the age of 65 years, three months, and 15 days. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by four sons, Morris (Tarsha Wilson) Sutton, Antonio Domonic (Alayna Patterson) Sutton, Sr., Robert Sutton, and Funtez (Unique) Robinson, one daughter, Olivia Ewing, four brothers, Floyd (Dorothy) Chappell, Norman Chappell, James Chappell, and Milton Chappell, Jr., eight sisters, Elizabeth (Norman) Murray, Sharon (Darren) Horrell, Jeannette Chappell, Angela Nicholson, Arthea Elzie, Dechia Chappell, Gwen Chappell and Ella Rice, one brother-in-law, Charles Ray Johnson, an aunt, Ella Mae Moore, special friends, Bonnie Sue Sutton and Kassandra Kimble, 13 grandchildren, Morris Jr., Zakee, Tyshayla, Tarmorris, Zaryuna, Aleece, Myneeka, Antonio, Jr., Jaquaveon, Lamarquez, Denashua, Cayden, and Dorrhiya, two great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Friends may call Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M. at the C. F. Bowden Civic Center in Charleston, Missouri with Reverend Darren Horrell officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors. The Williams Funeral Home of Charleston, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
