Otis Boyce, son of Render Smith Boyce and Reverend Beverly Boyce, was born on March 5, 1933 in Henson, Missouri. He was one in a family of three children, two boys and one girl. His parents, sister, Mary Boyce Seals, and brother, Andrew Smith Wave preceded him in death.
Otis worked for Proctor and Gamble for 25 years in the warehouse.
He was a faithful member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church for 79 years. During his years there, he had many different roles. He was a Sunday school teacher, superintendent of Sunday school, as well as a deacon for 63 years.
Otis was a member of the Ministerial Alliance and was a director of the Charleston Food Banks.
He enjoyed talking to people. Otis never met a stranger.
On Friday, May 24, 2024, Otis was suddenly taken from our midst at the age of 91 years, two months, and 19 days.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jessie Mae Kent Boyce, five children, Tyrone Nelson of Columbia, Missouri, Linda Boyce of Bertrand, Missouri, Gerald (Lisa) Boyce, Michele Boyce Swanks, and Anthony Boyce all of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, one niece, Patricia Seals of Cleveland, Ohio, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great niece, one great nephew, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Friday, May 31, 2024 at 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Henson, Missouri with Pastor Ronnie Mack officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston with full military honors. The Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
