Percy Lee Atkins, a long-time resident of Charleston, MO died Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO. He was born May 01, 1975, in Hayti, Missouri to the late Reverend Leroy Reed and Annie Simmons Reed.
Percy was a barber by trade and a beloved member of the community. He was known for his lively spirit and infectious laughter. Gifted with a beautiful singing voice, Percy was a member of the “Wings of Heaven” Gospel group founded in 1988 by his late father. Percy was a loving son, brother, and devoted father to his only child, Zaharia Graham of Mt. Vernon, IL. Percy was very proud of his daughter and spoke fondly of her to whomever would listen.
Percy was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Leroy Reed, sister, Cherita Simmons, and Nephew Marquan Reed.
In addition to his daughter Zaharia, he is survived by his mother, Annie Reed, five brothers; Leroy (Katrina) Atkins, Keane (Teletia) Atkins, and Frederick Thatch, Sr., of Sikeston, MO; Michael Atkins of Charleston, MO, and Cassius Reed of Miami, FL; four sisters, Lanetta Lockridge of Springfield, MO; Deanna (Phillip)Williams, Diane (Michael) Samuel, of Minneapolis, MN, and LaShonda Durden of Charleston, MO, special friend and neighbor Sharie Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Friday, October 21, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 11:00 A.M. at the Bowden Civic Center in Charleston, Missouri with Reverend Darren Horrell officiating. The Williams Funeral Homes of Charleston, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
