Phyllis Elaine Burgess, 62, resident of Sikeston, Missouri died Saturday, September 4, 2021 at home surrounded by those who loved her. She was born August 2, 1959 in Sheridan, Arkansas to the late James Edgar Wren and the late Lillie Beatrice Northern Wren.
Phyllis was a wonderful person with a big heart. She had her own personal relationship with God and was of the Pentecostal faith. It was that faith that made her a fighter. She fought hard to get well.
Phyllis loved all things "outside." Her two favorite activities were mowing and walking. She could be seen walking all over town, but she really enjoyed her walks downtown. Being outside brought her so much peace.
She was very family oriented. Spending time with her daughter and grandchildren was important to her, and her relationship with her step-mother was special. Being silly and the laughter she shared with them all will be most memorable.
She was one of 13 siblings. In addition to her parents, eight siblings have preceded her in death.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Natasha Wren Scowden, her step-mother, Mary Sue Spreckelmeyer, two granddaughters, Jerica and Montana, one grandson, Brantley, one great grandson, Wyatt, three brothers, Jamie Wren, Joe Wren, and Kenny Wren, one sister, Minnie Wren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
