Richard Lynn Anderson, affectionately known as Ricky, a dedicated Army Veteran and retired Fire Captain departed this life at the young age of 54 on July 9, 2023 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born December 9, 1968 to Dorothy Horrell Anderson and Andrew “Porter” Anderson. He leaves behind so many cherished memories that will forever be in our minds and hearts.
Richard attended Cairo High School and graduated with the class of 1987. He enlisted in the Army National Guard before joining the US Army. He proudly served in the US Army until he was honorably discharged. In 2006 he become a fire fighter at Newark Fire Department in New Jersey where he was the oldest in his class. He always kept everyone laughing; which led him to being nick named “Dave Chappell”. After serving over 12 years, he was promoted to Captain.
Apart from his dedication to serving and providing for his family he had a passion for cars; Cadillacs on vogues in particular. Everyone knew that he loved his vehicles. His love for these iconic vehicles exemplified his taste of elegance and style. He was a hard worker that lived life to the fullest.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, great niece, Nevaeh Horrell, and nephew, Mikiel Anderson, who he shared fond memories with before his passing.

He also leaves behind to cherish memories two daughters; Faith Wrice-Jones (Daniel “DJ” Jones) of Radcliff, KY and Rikeisia Anderson of Virginia Beach, VA. Three sons; Richard Lynn Anderson II of Georgia, Quavis Anderson of Newark, NJ, and Dominick J. Anderson of Newark, NJ. Two bonus sons; Dion Wrice of Sikeston, MO and Tyrone Kimber of Newark, NJ. Two grandchildren; Andre’ Arden “AJ” Brown and Crystiun Kimar Anderson, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, friends, and firefighter brothers.
Friends may call Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Charleston, Missouri with Associate Pastor Darren Horrell officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston with full military honors. The Williams Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
