Rodney Jerome Bird

June 25, 1973 — September 12, 2022

Rodney Jerome Bird departed this life on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis, MO. He was born June 25, 1973 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Dr. William Bird, Sr. and Rose Mary Lewis Bird.

Rodney was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School, where he was very beloved, and a member of the Central Tiger Marching Band.

Rodney married Ms. Tajuana Jackson on August 29, 1998. Their union is one of the most beautiful. Best friends and companions, the two of them were inseparable. Their cohesive bond of the love of God first, and music ministry, served and touched hundreds of lives all over the nation. Rodney was a life-time member of Greater Dimension Ministries in Cape Girardeau, MO. At his passing, he was a member of Unfailing Love Christian Center, in St. Louis, MO.

Rodney was passionate about many things, but his love for music was recognized early in life. He was a drummer, trumpeter, singer, choir director and song writer. Rodney began directing the adult choir at church at the age of 12. It was clear that he had an unmatched anointing to hear, teach and train the most undeveloped voices into a chorale of celebratory excellence in service to the Lord. Rodney worked with the Baptist Student Union Choir at Southeast University for 12 years. During this tenure, he served as a gatekeeper for many young ministers, evangelists and pastors during their transitional years, presenting a place of fun, but reverence to develop the anointing on their lives through music.

During his life, Rodney worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone, Greater Dimension Child Development Center, and NARS Call Center. He was currently the owner/operator of Purpose by Design Event Planning, LLC along with his wife, Tajuana.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Apostle William Bird, Sr., and leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 24 years, Mrs. Tajuana Jackson Bird, his mother, Mrs. Rose Mary Lewis Bird; three brothers – William, Jr. (Margaret Jo) and Calvin (Carolyn) Bird, both of Cape Girardeau and Kyle (Joy) Bird of Houston, TX; one sister – LaCrissa (Joel) Henton of O’Fallon, MO; two brothers-in-love – William (Alesia) Jackson of San Antonio, TX and David (Nikia) Jackson of Edwardsville, IL; two sisters-in-love – Sandra (Charles) Durley and Dolores Jackson, both of Chicago, IL., 13 beautiful god-children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
