Rodney Rigay Johnson, Sr.

Rodney Rigay Johnson, Sr., 50, resident of Charleston, Missouri, died Sunday, October 23, 2022. He was born July 22, 1972 to the late Howard Lee Chisolm and Odessa Jennings Johnson.

Rodney attended Charleston High School before relocating to Michigan and ultimately earning his GED (General Educational Development) diploma. In 2019, he became a Certified Nursing Assistant.

His wife, Sherry Johnson, of Hayti, Missouri preceded him in death.

He was an entrepreneur.  Rodney owned and operated APES Auto Sales in Bertrand, Missouri.

In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his son, Rodney (Beth) Johnson, Jr., three brothers, Roy Lee Johnson, Bobby Johnson, and Greg Johnson all of Charleston, Missouri, two sisters, Vanessa (Henry) Davis of Charleston, Missouri and Iona Johnson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, one grandson, Raheem Johnson,  his son’s mother, Samella McCatrey Pettigrew, a special friend, Kim Simpson and her family, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Rodney is preceded in death by four brothers, George Johnson, Jerome Marshall, Jimmy Lee Johnson, and Elmer Johnson, and two sisters, Rozella Peterson and Marylin Lawrence.

Friends may call Friday, November 4, 2022 at 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M. at St. Matthews Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, Missouri with Pastor Floyd Wade officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston with the Williams Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.
