Rosie Lee Blackmon

June 8, 1967 — February 28, 2024

Rosie Lee Blackmon was born June 8, 1967 in Osceola, Arkansas to Bufford Simmons and Louise Jones Simmons. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband, “Dino” Blackmon, her daughter, Cassandra Walker, two sisters, Carolyn Jean Jones and Maggie Simmons, and two brothers, Robert Simmons and Alvia Louis “Big Al” Simmons.

She graduated from New Madrid High School in 1986.

Rosie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized in August 2022. Her church home was The Free Church of Sikeston, MO. She attended and served faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Kyle Pernell.

Rosie was employed at Unilever for over 25 years.

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024 while at her home surrounded by family, Rosie transitioned to her heavenly home at the age of 56 years, eight months, and 20 days.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her mother, Louise Jones Simmons of New Madrid, MO, eight sons, Christopher (Myia Clark)         Simmons, Corey (Kayla Vanpool) Simmons, Rachaun Dorsey, and Xavier Howard all of Sikeston, MO, Derrick (Tonya Linzie) Blackmon of Columbia, MO, Phillip Garner of Springfield, MO, Gary (Nicole Morris) Morris of Little Rock, AR, and Elliott Bonner of Licking, MO,  five daughters, Jerriereneika Dorsey, Mary Howard and Anndrea Dorsey all of Sikeston, MO, Kwneshia Dorsey of Atlanta, GA, and Laketa Williams of Cape Girardeau, MO, six brothers, Jerry Simmons, Bufford Simmons Jr, and Willie Brown all of Sikeston, MO, Kevin Jones of New Madrid, MO, James Anthony Jones of Paducah, KY, and Rayfield Holbrook of Detroit, MI, six sisters, Jean Simmons of Memphis, TN, Mary Ann Johnson and Amy Simmons of New Madrid, MO, Tracy (Patrick) Ellis and Delores (Leo) Winfield both of Sikeston, MO, and Irma Simmons of Detroit, MI, three special grandchildren, Ja’Shyia Pratt, Kourtlen Simmons and Courtney Gaines, two special people in her life, David Turner and Lavette Hatcher, and a host of nieces and nephews, other family and friends!

Friends may call Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M. at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ in Sikeston, Missouri with Pastor Kyle Pernell officiating.  Interment will follow in Garden of Memories in Sikeston.  The Williams Funeral Homes of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
