Ruby Lee Ellis Jones Mosby

October 27, 1942 — April 28, 2020

Ruby Lee Ellis Jones Mosby, 77, resident of Sikeston, Missouri died Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.  She was born October 27, 1942 in Tunica, Mississippi to the late James Wilson and Viola Dotson Ellis.

She was a member of West End Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri where she was a former member of the Usher Board.

Ruby was united in marriage to Joe Henry Jones on May 10, 1958 who preceded her in death.  She was united in marriage to Cleveland Mosby on July 4, 1965 who survives.

She was a certified nurses’ assistant.

Ruby was a very passionate and strong woman who was an inspiration to others.  She seemed to always find a way to make one feel good during the most adverse situations.  She was very outgoing and known to many as Aunt Ruby.  She loved cooking and was known for her white spaghetti with neckbones.  She would often cook for the neighborhood and all kids were welcome.  She was always welcoming, funny and comical.  Where ever you found Aunt Ruby, you would find laughter.

She loved the outdoors, spending time with her family and shopping. Her love for people afforded her the opportunity to be loved by so many.  She will surely be missed but never forgotten.

In addition to her first husband, she is preceded in death by two sons, Scotty Mosby and Danny D. Mosby, one daughter, Dorothy Mae Mosby Howard, and five brothers, Jimmy Dean, Ulysses Neal, Willie James Ellis, Freddie Ellis and James Wilson Ellis, Jr.

Ruby is survived by four boys, Cleveland (Christina) Mosby of Rockford, Illinois, RJ (Malynda) Mosby of Tampa, Florida, Elsie Mosby of Columbia, Missouri and Tyrice Mosby of Detroit, Michigan,  four daughters, Ruby Jean Jones, Cherrie (Homer D., Jr.)Jones Montjoy Trigg, Rosemary Jones Brown and Annette Mosby Perkins of Sikeston, Missouri, seven sisters, Lueberta Lott, Penny (Timothy) Whitley, Dorothy (Roscoe) Moon, Mattie Harris and Callie (Roosevelt) Weakley of Sikeston, Missouri, Mary (Walter) Richards of Chicago, Illinois and Mary Edwards of Memphis, Tennessee, one brother, Robert (Gloria) Ellis of Sikeston, Missouri and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Friday, May 8, 2020 for a walk through visitation from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, Missouri.  Interment will immediately follow in Sikeston Memorial Park with Pastor Roosevelt Weakly officiating.
